Viking shield with carved Vegvisir symbol
- This hand-carved plywood piece features a Vegvisir symbol also known as the Viking compass. It is an ancient Norse symbol, worn to find one's way through rough weather. Viking warriors would engrave such symbols on their shields to guarantee the success of their raids.
- TheVegvisir symbol is encircled by a beautifully designed Viking-style braid artwork.
- The shield is made out of 15mm thick birch plywood and finished with a wood staining technique, treated with linen seed oil, and sealed with acrylic varnish. It comes with a wood handlebar installed on the back. This shield can be used as a decorative wall hanger or as a functional piece for medieval reenactment or LARP.
